The women of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. coordinated 'Helping Hands' to clean the Howard University campus and its surrounding community, and to promote environmental sustainability.
We believe that environmental sustainability is truly essential for the betterment of our communities. By ensuring that our surrounding community is clean, we promote a better quality of life.
In order to implement these beliefs through our 'Helping Hands' initiative, we invited the neighborhood to join us for a day of community clean up, picking up trash around the local Howard community.
Each attendee was given gloves and trash bags. As we split off into different groups, each group was responsible for maintaining cleanliness of a particular zone of the community. The success of this initiative was measured by the amount of trash picked up and overall cleanliness of the Howard Community.
