A Salute to their Service

D.C has a staggering homeless population, of which a majority are veterans. Veterans make an enormous sacrifice for our citizens but are often neglected when they return home and are denied the services they require to transition into civilian life smoothly. Veterans are a very unique demographic with very specific needs to help them healthily reenter society. Some shelters and other transitional living facilities aid in assisting veterans move to permanent independent living situations. However, they sometimes still lack basic items to make this move seamless. This community service project will be held to honor Veterans Day and will share words of encouragement but also give veterans some of the small toiletries and items they need.
