The Pink Print
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is in October. Black women and white women get breast cancer at about the same rate, but black women die from breast cancer at a higher rate than white women. In addition, Black women are more likely than white women to get triple-negative breast cancer, a kind of breast cancer that often is aggressive and comes back after treatment. With this event, we were able to share information about the disease and how Howard University students can protect themselves from its development, in addition to early detection through teaching about breast self-examinations.
