Combating Gentrification through the Circulation of the Black Dollar

Gentrification is much more complicated than how it is initially presented when taking place in low-middle class income neighborhoods. The definition of gentrification is “the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle-class taste.”But what It is ultimately known for is the displacement of a group of people and the power that the system has to capitalize off of low income residential areas. More importantly, gentrification leads to stripping a community of the culture and foundation that it was built upon. With this, we aim to address and identify the effects of gentrification in the Black community.
